Ourobonic Plague

Ourobonic Plague makes experimental electronic music that tends to lean to the darker end of things. They've played gigs at house parties, makerspace workshops, hiphop open mic nights, music festivals and bars/clubs/concert halls of all shapes and sizes. Along the way Ourobonic Plague picked up some support slots for artists as varied as Andy Stott, oOoOO, Barn Owl and Whitehorse. That more-or-less reflects the scale of their influences too. When they started out – just experimenting with GarageBand in 2007 – their intention was something like a mash-up of Burial and Sunn 0))). They're not sure that was ever achieved, but it's still a decent hint at what to expect from their music. Ourobonic Plague remains inspired by drone and dubstep, along with various tropes and traditions from witch-house, jungle, industrial, hiphop and plunderphonics/sampledelica. In a live environment they've played sets that cover all this ground, and others that zero-in on a single current. They landed on the slogan "BEATS & DRONES FOR STRANGE TIMES" many years ago, when asked to quickly write a bio much like this, and it's served them well, becoming more apt as time ticks on.
